Another son of a Caramoanon carved a niche for himself when he topped a recent government examination.
Aaron Rey Cuenca Altez, 23, a graduate of the University of the Philippines, placed second in the licensure examination for mining engineers held last September 2007 with a rating of 83.5%.
The second of five children of Sofronio Paraiso Altez, retired Regional Director of the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics and Gloria Garcia Cuenca, chief accountant of the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics in Quezon City, Aaron finished his high school at the Ateneo de Naga University.
He is now employed with a Makati mining company.
Aaron’s siblings are all well on their way to carving their own future.
Czarina May, 25, the eldest in the family finished Broadcast Communication at UP and is now with the Development Academy of the Philippines.
The third, Mariliz, 21, is reviewing for the nursing board examination after finishing her BSN at the Universidad de Sta.Isabel.
Jeannelou, 20, is a fourth year Chemical Engineering student at the UPLB while the youngest, Sophron Paul is in first year college at the Ateneo de Naga University.
Retired Director Altez who graduated valedictorian at the Ateneo de Naga University is presently member of the board of directors of the Caramoan Residents Association in Naga City and its Environs (CRANE) and resides at Progress Homes Subdivision at San Vicente, Canaman, Camarines Sur. He occasionally writes a column for PENINSULA MONITOR.
