Mayor San Luis |
PILI, CSUR – Only two and a half months after assuming office as mayor of the capital town of Camarines Sur, Mayor Alex San Luis has made impressive strides towards effective delivery of basic services to the people.
This month he launched part of his multi-pronged agricultural productivity program through his inland fishery development plan which he started by distributing 5,500 tilapia and 500 Japanese carp fingerlings.
Mayor San Luis first focused on the efficient delivery of basic services by allocating to all barangay health centers medicines that before were only stocked in the Mayor’s office and given only to those known to be supportive of the incumbent mayor. Now, medicines are given to every constituent in need regardless of party affiliations.
Moreover, the medicines were bought at much lower prices from government entities without kickbacks.
He had also allocated sanitary toilet bowls and unlike similar programs in the past he had ensured that they were all installed, health and sanitation being on top of his program.
Post to post rehabilitation of electrical wires has also been completed from the boundary barangay of Palestina to barangay Pawili in Baao, a distance of 7 kilometers.
Mayor San Luis has immediately seen to it that houses that have been deprived of electrical services because of wire thieves or because of the typhoons are immediately reconnected with the help of the municipal government. He had, however, admonished constituents to promptly report wire thieves so they could bear the brunt of the law.
The town Poblacion is being gradually cleared of street vendors who are instead allocated spaces at the town market. A new market building is, however, needed to accommodate all vendors according to the town executive.
Trucks, heavy equipment and other big vehicles have now been prohibited from passing the crowded Poblacion thus easing traffic flow.
