LRV Through the Years

On the national limelight since he became of in 1978, then elected twice as Assemblyman of the Batasang Pambansa the election for which he topped, governor of Camarines for nearly 15 years and now on his second term as Congressman of the Second District of Camarines Sur, Congressman Luis R. Villafuerte is a face so familiar to Bicolanos and to many of his countrymen not only in Metro Manila but throughout the coutry.

Yet that profile which expectedly changed through the years could be difficult to recognize for the new generation, especially the young, dashing, debonaire Villafuerte who was an outstanding student leader, top-rate economist and banker in the 1960’s, and subsequently TOYM awardee for investment banking, and the brillant, charismatic, articulate and versatile political star from the late 1970’s.

On this page, PENINSULA MONITOR attempts to capture the transformation of the LRV physical profile as well as some scintillating facets of his life as a multi-awarded and revered public official while thousands of his ardent and adoring supporters celebrate with the traditional fanfare and excitement his birthday on August 29 at different places and different dates during the week.
