CRANE election set in September

Election for the next set of officers of the Caramoan Residents Association in Naga City in its Environs (CRANE) will be held Saturday, September 29, 2007, this was jointly announced by Dominador C. Alarkon, Jr. and Atty. Florencio Rosales, president and chairman, respectively, of the organization.

Pursuant to the Constitution and by-laws of the organization, officers will serve for two years and elections will be held every after two years. The last election was held in 2005 during a general assembly at the CSPC-BCAT where voting was by secret ballot and a 3-man election committee supervised the proceedings.

The election committee then was composed of Atty. Franco Fermin Berja Avila, chairman; Atty. Fiel Rosales and Atty. Salvador R. Villegas as members.

Unless any of the election committee member opts to run for an elective position the membership of the committee will remain the same. The Constitution prohibits election committee members from running for an elective position.

Alarkon who emphasized he is not running for reelection nor seeking any position in the organization anymore said those interested to run should basically be members of good standing. It means that they have paid their membership fees and annual dues and have actively participated in the activities of the organization.

Positions at stake are president, executive vice president, vice president for internal affairs, vice president for external affairs, secretary, assistant secretary (2), treasurer and assistant treasurer, auditor and assistant auditor, PROs (2), business managers (5) and directors (15). The directors will elect from among themselves their chairman.

Alarkon said it is enough that he has served continuously for three years as president and helped revive the organization while initiating various projects beneficial to members and Caramoanons. Before his present term from 2006 to 2007 he served for one year in 2005 in interim capacity.
