There are 17 new mayors in 35 Camarines Sur towns while six former mayors succeeded in bouncing back to their old positions. Only 12 won their reelection bids.

In the provincial government, Gov. L Ray Villafuerte and Vice Gov. Salvio Fortuno were comfortable winners but some provincial board members crashed out of government service after stunning losses.

Warren Señar who opted to ran for mayor of Ragay was soundly beaten, Ferdinand Melgarejo was tailender in the mayoralty race in Lagonoy and Ariel Oriño who challenged once more Libmanan Mayor Rodolfo Jimenez was again frustrated.

In the Second District of Camarines Sur, Board Member Ernesto Verdadero was a dismal loser, more than 8,000 votes from topnotcher Charina Pante, one of two Kampi board members who topped the race in their respective districts. The other Kampi topnotcher was Dr. Ruperto Alfelor of the Fourth District of the province.

All four winning congressmen in the province won by landslide margins. KAMPI bets Diosdado “Dato” Arroyo in the First District, Luis R. Villafuerte in the Second District and Felix Alfelor, Jr. in the Fourth District and NPC stalwart Arnulfo Fuentebella in the Third District were all runaway winners.

Congressman Villafuerte won over former Congressman Sulpicio Roco by five times his margin over the same opponent in 2004 with an aggregate lead of more than 35,000 votes.

New Camarines Sur mayors include: Quirino Bongcayao (Baao), Nena Borja (Balatan), Jeanette Bernaldez (Bato), Ma. Luisa D.C. Angeles (Bombon), Rey Lacoste (Buhi), Constantino Cordial, Jr. (Caramoan), Solon Demetriou, Jr. (Garchitorena), Antero Lim (Goa), Nelson Julia (Magarao), Leonilo Sarte (Ocampo), Asuncion Arceño (Pasacao), Alex San Luis (Pili), Ricardo Aquino (Ragay), Fermin Mabolo (San Fernando), Arulf Bryan Fuentebella (Tigaon), Ruel Velarde (Tinambac) and Gilmar Pacamarra (San Jose).

Former mayors who were able to recapture their old posts are Mayor Rolando Eduardo (Camaligan), Emmanuel Requejo (Canaman), Delfin Pilapil, Jr. (Lagonoy), Rogelio Flores (Milaor), Nonito Vier (Siruma) and Benjamin Decena (Bula).
