L-Ray - Noli pact collapses as leaders defy agreement
The much-publicized alliance agreement between Gov. L- Ray Villafuerte and Congressman Noli Fuentebella is headed after all to naught as Fuentebella leaders refuse to carry the reelectionist governor and leaders allied with the governor also would not vote for Fuentebella. “Under no condition shall we ever vote for Fuentebella”, one Third District leader identified with L-Ray said. “An alliance is simply impossible because both camps have their own municipal candidates,” key Fuentebella leaders said. “Fuentebella candidates know that L-Ray is funding their opponents so they are training their guns against L-Ray,” it was pointed out.Many Fuentebella leaders also openly voiced out their sentiments for KAMPI official candidate Eddie Pilapil who comes from the district. “We will be punished by our own people if we do not help Eddie Pilapil knowing that this is a rare opportunity for a leader from the district to become governor again after more than 20 years”, many Fuentebella followers admitted.
“When Wimpy Fuetebella ran in 2004 we knew he could not win because Manny Alfelor would not agree to join forces with him”, the same leaders who asked not to be identified for the meantime said. “But with Conressman Villafuerte, Budge Secretary Andaya, Congressman Felix Alfelor, Jr. and even Dato Arroyo supporting Eddie Pilapil it is certain that the Third District will have a governor this time”, the same sources added.
