MONITOR marks 1st anniversary

With this issue PENINSULA MONITOR completes one full year as a community newspaper with circulation in Camarines Sur, some Bicol provinces and Metro Manila and copies reaching Bicolanos abroad. It is regularly on the CRANE website at www.crane-caramoan.org and could be emailed at info@ crane-caramoan.org.

PENINSULA MONITOR started as THE CRANE MONITOR on April 15, 2006. It was so named because its basic mission was to push development initiatives in the Caramoan Peninsula which lags behind in socio-economic development despite its huge tourism potentials, mineral, agricultural and marine resources. It was primarily intended to monitor the Caramoan coastal road whose implementation was approved by President Arroyo following a petition by CRANE endorsed by a host of government and community leaders and non-government organizations including Bicol bishops and priests.

CRANE MONITOR was renamed PENINSULA MONITOR starting January, 2007 with the ownership and management of the paper completely passing on from the CRANE to present publisher-editor Dominador C. Alarkon, Jr. who has actually single-handedly run the publication from the very beginning. PENINSULA MONITOR was registered anew with the DTI in Camarines Sur and granted Business Name Certificate No. 00020021 on January 19, 2007. It was also issued Mayor’s Permit No. 2007-089 by Canaman Municipal Mayor Joel Abante and Business Registration License No. 102.
