Caramoan Mayor Francis Benemerito early this month designated a five-member committee to assist the CRANE in coordinating various sports, social and cultural activities that have been lined up from May 1 to 8, 2007 in connection with the Balik Caramoan 2007 festival and the Caramoan town fiesta on May 7 and 8 in honor of the town Patron Saint, St. Michael the Archangel.
The Caramoan LGU Committee is chaired by Max Nazarrea and composed of Municipal Administrator Rebecca Sancho, Jeffrey Sancho, Ms. Cristina Sy and Camilo Alvarez.
The creation of the LGU-Caramoan counterpart committee was stipulated in a memorandum of agreement signed between the CRANE as the sponsoring organization of the Balik Caramoan 2007 and the Caramoan town fiesta celebration, and the Caramoan LGU represented by Mayor Benemerito and Vice Mayor Juan Cordis, Jr.
The group of local coordinators has been bolstered by the participation of volunteers from the DepEd and the private sector, motivated by their desire to help make Balik Caramoan 2007 a truly memorable event as hundreds of Caramoanons are coming home from abroad, Metro Manila and other parts of the country.
David Sarmiento, one of the most ardent supporters of the Balik Caramoan 2007 project said he had volunteered to assist the undertaking in the hope that it would spur Caramoanons from every corner of the globe to once in a while visit their hometown.
DepEd Principal Romulo Naa said Balik Caramoan 2007 is a novel effort that deserves everyone’s support because it would be greatly beneficial to the town which is struggling to keep abreast with development.
