SAN JOSE, CSUR – KAMPI mayoralty candidate Raymundo “Bembot” Dizon this week expressed optimism he would win in the five-cornered derby in his town because of his superior qualification and experience and his realistic and attainable programs for the people.
A law graduate who had served as municipal councilor, Bembot proposes to look for additional income opportunities for the farming population which is dependent almost entirely on rice production. Everytime typhoon occurs farmers bear most the brunt of the calamity and some are left with hardly enough for their subsistence until the next harvest season.
“There is a need for alternative income sources through part-time employment or self-employment opportunities”, Bembot Dizon said.
The same holds true for residents of the port barangay of Sabang where porters must be provided additional income sources instead of crowding around passengers for small fees, he said.
He observed that the Talisay Port which was built by the national government from a loan from the Japanese government to the tune of more than P72 million must be fully utilized and people must be educated on the use of the facilities including its comfort rooms to be able to attract tourists and plain visitors.
The tourism potentials of the town must also be harnessed as a means to earn revenues for the municipal government and to provide jobs, he also pointed out.
Running with Bembot as vice mayor is Ely Imperial while his councilors include Jun Burce, Elvis Dadis, Dick Candia, Joel Lucero, Zaldy Sarcilla, Sarah Per and Bertin Pasiona.
Other contenders for mayor in this town are Tony Chavez, Gilmar Pacamarra, Jerold Peña and Tony Imperial.
