TIGAON, CSUR - MAYOR Elmo Bombase this week confirmed that he is definitely supporting Vice Mayor Redito Clariño in his mayoralty bid this coming election notwithstanding the reported plan of his brother to also run for mayor.

“While I know that my brother is also qualified to be mayor I have to stand by my commitment and my principle”, Mayor Bombase said.

He emphasized that Vice Mayor Clariño has served for a total of four terms as vice mayor and has before that also served as councilor and this vast experience coupled with his rapport with the constituents make it logical that he should be given the chance to also serve as mayor.

Mayor Bombase who is no longer running for reelection after having been elected for three successive terms also pointed out that

Clariño has performed very well and has been a very reliable ally throughout his tenure.

He also disclosed that Dr. Ruel Camato will team up with Clariño as vice mayor.

Running for councilors in their KAMPI ticket are Lorenzo Bombase, Romeo Borigas, Maglie Estela, Armstrong Llaguno, Virgil Mesa, Lawrence Montalban, Wellington Palaypayon and Melquiades Manlagnit.

Clariño possibly will face Arnie Fuentebella, son of Congressman Arnulfo Fuentebella, and Mayor Bombase’s own brother, Leandro Bombase unless future negotiations could dissuade him from pursuing his plan.

Mayor Bombase said Vice Clariño has the edge despite Arnie Fuentebella’s reported big funding source having married to a wealthy family.

“I am sure Tigaon voters will just get Fuentebella’s money but they will vote for Clariño who is admired by the masses for his simple, austere way of life and his efficient public service”, Mayor Bombase said.

Besides the Fuentebella scion has only come back to Tigaon to run for mayor and people would never like that, because they feel they are just being taken for granted, Bombase said.
