Presidential Assistant for Bicol Affairs Tomasito Monson last week assured CRANE president Dominador Alarkon, Jr. he would extend support to the Balik Caramoan 2007 project convinced as he is that the undertaking would considerably boost the tourism development program for the Caramoan Peninsula.

Undersecretary Monson said the project deserves the support of the government, the business and private sectors since initiatives coming from organizations like CRANE are vital for the accelerated development of the province of Camarines Sur and the whole Bicol Region.

In April 2005 Monson favorably endorsed the CRANE petition to President Arroyo for the continuance and completion of the Presentation-Caramoan coastal road which is now under implementation.

The CRANE petition was also backed up by endorsements of government leaders led by Congressman Luis R. Villafuerte, the religious sector spearheaded by Bishop Manolo A. de los Santos, D. D., Bishop of Virac and the private sector topped by the Camarines Sur Chamber of Commerce and Industry whose president is William Concepcion.

Meanwhile, Regional Director Maria Ong Ravanilla of DOT Region 5 is set to confer with the CRANE president and Dr. Dolly Roa Perez, CRANE executive vice president and chairperson of Balik Caramoan 2007 project, to thresh out areas of DOT support for the planned week-long festival from May 1 to 8. Hundreds of Caramoans now residing in the United States, Canada and other parts of the world and around the country are coming home upon CRANE encouragement after decades that they have not set foot on their native town.
