CRANE officer loses son in road mishap
Irate officers of the CRANE this week called for more rigid PNP watch over drunken drivers after one of them lost a son on January 20 when his motorcycle was bumped by a wayward owner jeep whose driver and his companions were all drunk.
Killed in the accident at around 4 o’clock in the afternoon Saturday, January 20 was Ronilo Palaya Bañadera, 26 years old, who was graduating this March at the UNC. He was on his way home to Marupit, Camaligan from school when the accident happened at Queborac near the north bound terminal in Bagumbayan, Naga City.
Ronilo was the eldest of only three children of Roberto Bañadera and Nida Cordial Palaya of Caramoan, Camarines Sur, the present assistant secretary of CRANE.
Ronilo was married to Maricel Conde Esperat, also 26, with whom they have a son, Ronil Giobert, 4. The victim had a sister, Rizzy Ann, 21, and a brother, Roberto, Jr., 10 years old.
The owner jeep was driven by one Jun Jun Badong, 23, who was said to be very drunk that the vehicle was seen zigzagging full speed along the road from Marupit towards Bagumbayan, He was with two other drunken companions.
Last year, another Caramoanon, Salvacion Baluyot, was killed along Concepcion Grande here in Naga City when she was bumped by a vehicle believed to be driven by a drunk person. The hit-and-run vehicle just sped away after the accident and the law enforcement authorities up to now have not identified the vehicle nor the criminal.
