Miss Caramoan rules announced


Miss Marianne Singson Bañas, 2005 Miss Caramoan.

Dr. Rhodora Roa Perez, overall chairperson of the Balik Caramoan 2007 Project this week laid down the rules and criteria for the Miss Caramoan 2007 contest and also disclosed the sports events that will be held during the week-long celebrations from May 1 to 8, 2007.

The Miss Caramoan Beauty Pageant Committee is chaired by Ms. Nimfa Medel Bichara but meantime that she is still in Australia interested participants in the beauty tilt may see Dr. Perez or the CRANE secretariat.

The sports committee is chaired by Ricardo Culvera with Engr. Pedro Cordis as co-chairman.

In the Miss Caramoan 2007 contest basic qualifications of the candidates include:

  1. She must be at least 16 years of age but not more than 24 years old at the date of the proclamation night;
  2. She must be at least five feet two inches in height;
  3. She must be single, in good health, of good moral character and reputation and has never undergone childbirth or become a mother; and,
  4. She must be at least a high school graduate.
  5. She must be a Caramoanon or must have roots from Caramoan, meaning that a contestant may not be residing in Caramoan but if her parents had come from the town she could qualify
Aside from Miss Caramoan, major titles in the contest include 1st Runner-up, 2nd Runner-up; 3rd Runner-up and 4th Runner-up. Special awards are Miss Friendship, Miss Photogenic, Miss Talent, Best in Swimsuit and Best in Evening Gown.

Meanwhile, at least ten sports events are certain to be held pursuant to the recommendation and as approved by CRANE officers.

These include: inter-municipalities basketball, inter-barangay basketball, beach volleyball men, beach volleyball women, chess, boat racing (two-man sibid-sibid and sampoloan sa kasko), 15-k marathon, 9-ball billiard and kite flying.

At the same time, Dr. Perez also announced that there will be competitions on street dancing, drill, drum and bugle corps and majorettes among Caramoan elementary and high school students. The committee for parade which will oversee these competitions is headed by Melanio Alarcon.
