Dimadura guest at Berlin fete

Ferdinand Dimadura, a noted Bicolano composer from L,agonoy, Camarines Sur who has been winning awards for production of film documentaries, has been invited as guest director next month at the 57rh Berlin Film Festival in Germany, considered one of the biggest film festivals in the world.

His short film “Binamban-The Glorious Food of Lagonoy” will be featured on February 15, 2007 at the “Eat, Drink, See Movies-Celebrating Culinary Cinema”. For the first time Berlin Film Festival will be presenting a new series of movies revolving around the topics film, food and enjoyment.

This is actually not the first time that Dimadura will figure in the Berlin film festival . Last year Dimadura’s “Chicken Ala Carte” topped the Berlinale Talent Camous Film Competition which had more than 3,000 entries around the world.

“Binamban” bested 400 entries also from all over the world at the Terra Madre Short Film Competition at Turin, Italy last October 2006.

Dimadura first rose to fame locally when he won in the first Bicol Music Festival in 1982 with his “Bicolano Ako”, one of the best Bicol songs ever composed.

He has to his name scores of song compositions, mostly in Bicol.

With his current feat in film production, Dimadura is a fast gaining distinction and reputation as among the few Filipino composers making auspicious achievements in film making.
