IN CAMARINES SUR - Administration unity slate still possible

Presidential son Dato Arroyo who is running for congressman in the First District of Camarines Sur recently took his oath as KAMPI member before Congressman Luis R. Villafuerte, KAMPI national president. |
There is still a chance and a glimmer of hope that administration leaders in Camarines Sur would come to terms and settle for just one administration gubernatorial candidate, one congressional bet in every district and one municipal slate in each town and city in the province.
Congressman Luis R. Villafuerte, KAMPI national president, this week made it clear that the scenario could occur only if Gov. L-Ray Villafuerte would abide with the choices of the administration alliance in the province for congressional and municipal candidates. In such event, Governor Villafuerte would also be unopposed from any administration party in his reelection bid, and may possibly even have no opponent at all, the elder Villafuerte said.
However, should the governor persist to field his own congressional and municipal candidates the administration alliance will put up its own candidates for all provincial elective positions, Congressman Villafuerte added.
The administration alliance mainly composed of Congressman Villafuerte, Budget Secretary Rolando G. Andaya, Jr. and Congressman Felix R. Alfelor, Jr. has given a time frame for Governor Villafuerte to make up his mind although Congressman Villafuerte would not reveal to the media the exact deadline.
The administration alliance has been reinforced by presidential son Diosdado “Dato” Arroyo who has taken his oath as KAMPI member and former Congressman and Tourism Secreatry Eduardo Pilapil. Arroyo will run for congressman in the first district while Pilapil will seek the congressional seat in the third district.
“I have always stood for my commitments and my principles and I am not turning back my on them now even if it would hurt my own son”, Congressman Villafuerte who handpicked his son L-Ray to succeed him in 2004 emphasized.
