Fuentebella to coalesce with Kampi?

In a surprise development this week, Congressman Arnulfo Fuentebella said he is willing to enter into a coalition with Kampi in Camarines Sur for the sake of unity for the people.

In an interview first carried by ABS-CBN Naga, the Third District solon said he is open to an alliance agreement particularly with Kampi whose national president is Congressman Luis R. Villafuerte.

Contacted by MONITOR at presstime, Congressman Villafuerte said he is glad that Fuentebella has taken the initiative for a possible coalition but it is quite difficult because he has committed to support former Congressman Eduardo Piliapil in the Third District.

Reached by MONITOR also at press time, former Congressman and Tourism Secretary Pilapil declined to comment on Fuentebella’s overture saying it was up for the Kampi party president. Observers said Fuentebella could be angling for the governorship in case the administration alliance fails to patch up its differences with Governor L-Ray Villafuerte.

Meanwhile, Congressman Villafuerte said the number of incumbent congressmen affiliated with Kampi has swelled to 51 and more are expected to take their oath as Kampi members among gubernatorial and congressional candidates before the deadline for filing the certificates of candidacy.
