LRV, Andaya, Arroyo in covenant of unity

Congressman Luis R. Villafuerte, national president of the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (KAMPI) this week announced that he will be signing next month here in Naga City a manifesto of unity with Budget Secretary Rolando G. Andaya, Jr. and presidential son Diosdado “Datu” Arroyo which will set the framework for their political alliance in the First District of Camarines Sur.

The covenant will spell out the commitment of the signatories to exclusively support candidates in the common municipal ticket for each of the ten municipalities of the district.

Candidates in the municipal ticket are in turn also to support only candidates for board members and other provincial and national positions which the three leaders will determine.

Earlier, Arroyo who has established residence here for several years now, had been jointly endorsed by Congressman Villafuerte and Secretary Andaya as their common candidate for congressman in the First District, in effect making the second of three children of President Arroyo an unopposed candidate.

Secretary Andaya’s wife had first been reported being groomed to run for the position which he would relinquish by mandate of law in 2007 even if he had not become a cabinet official because he would have served three uninterrupted terms. But Secretary Andaya himself publicly announced he is supporting Datu Arroyo instead.

Arroyo studied here at the Ateneo de Naga University and when he married he decided to establish residence here.

Because of his continued stay in Camarines Sur and his frequent involvement and participation in socio-civic work and in various development activities he was proclaimed by the provincial government of Camarines as adopted son of the province way back in 2004.

Municipal tickets in the First District that will be supported by the triumvirate include: in Del Gallego, the mayoralty and vice mayoralty team of Mayor Bayani Veluz and Vice Mayor Lydia Abarrientos; in Ragay, Kgd. Ricky Aquino and Vice Mayor Sonny Cedo; in Lupi, Mayor Raul Matamorosa and Vice Mayor Angeles Montañez; in Sipocot, Mayor Teresa de la Peña and Vice Mayor Rogenor Astor; in Libmanan, Mayor Rodolfo Jimenez and Vice Mayor Jesus Lontok; in Cabusao, Mayor Norberto Genova and Vice Mayor Romeo Delfin; In Pasacao, Kgd. Basmayor, Jr. and Vice Mayor Noe Lavandero.

Expected to witness the signing ceremony are Mayor Renato Aquino, Ex-Mayor Carolina Uy, Kgd. Noel Agravante, Janette Remoquillo, Ex-Mayor Teddy Dilanco, Mayor Sabas Mabulo, Kgd. Nestor Villegas and Ex-Vice Mayor Danny Villafuerte.
