Past beauties Balik Caramoan special guests

Caramoan beauties of yesteryears who walked the ramp not only in Caramoan beauty pageants but emerged winners as well in provincial and regional beauty tilts will be invited to grace the 2007 Miss Caramoan Beauty Pageant and will be assigned roles either as judges or presentors.

The long list of Caramoan beauties from some four decades back will be led by Asuncion “Tonton” Anzorandia Johnson who was Miss Peñafrancia in the 1960’s and Rosie Roa Jenny who was Miss Bicolandia in 1970.

Also among those who will be invited by the CRANE Miss Caramoan 2007 committee chaired by Ms. Nimfa Medel-Bichara are former Miss Caramoan titleholders Lilia Borebor-Canuto, Cynthia Obias. Emily Qua Borebor, Elenita Tiu Sing Long Chancoco, Cielito Reazon and Marianne Bañas, the last Miss Caramoan who was crowned in 2005. The committee is still doing research on other past beauty titleholders.

The attendance of past Caramoan beauties in the week-long festivities would underscore the CRANE objective to pave the way for a reunion of sorts for Caramoanons who have been away from the town for so long.

Many Caramoanons abroad who have committed this early to come home for the Balik Caramoan Project have not returned for 30 or more years.

They opined that while they are also always willing to come home they are held back by the thought that their visit could be boring and the time and money spent, not to mention their absence from work, could not be compensated by any memorable event during their stay in their hometown.

CRANE thus conceived the Balik Caramoan Project to ensure that Caramoanons coming home on May 1 to 8, 2007 would forever cherish the experiences.
