Asela Alarkon Tapang, 73
Mrs. Asela Alarkon-Tapang passed away last September 4, 2006 at the age of 73 at their residence at Longos, Malolos, Bulalacan after a lingering illness.
The second of ten children of the late Caramoan Mayor Glicerio Alarkon, Sr. and Luz Palencia, she had lived almost continuously in Manila and in Bulacan after her marriage to Architect Guillermo Tapang. A practicing optometrist, they owned the Alta Optical Clinic in Malolos.
They have three children—Dr. Glibennete Tapang-Panlaqui, a dermatologist; Jay, a therapist who is now in Illinois, U.S.A., and Giovanni A. Tapang, a Physics professor at the UP Diliman.
The deceased was an alumna of UST and Centro Escolar University but finished her elementary with honors at the Caramoan central School and her secondary at the United High School in Caramoan as salutatorian.
