PSDS Santelices retires

Public School District Supervisor Dr. Yolanda Arcilla Santelices recently retired after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 65 last June 21, 2006 and after completing 43 years of continuous service in the Department of Education.

She will now devote full time as administrator of the Caramoan Community College. The Caramoan Community College has been given authority by the Commission on Higher Education to offer bachelor’s degree courses.

Dr. Santellices joined the DepEd in 1963 as classroom teacher. She later was transferred to Goa District where she was elementary school head teacher for seven years and Principal I also for seven years. Upon her promotion to Principal II she was transferred to the Lagonoy South Central School where she served for six years.

In 1987 she assumed as PSDS in the Caramoan District, a position she handled for 19 years until her retirement.

Dr. Santellices has only two children. Alexis Jesus A. Santelices is an electrical engineer employed in a private firm in Manila. He is married to Amelita Jacob with whom he has two children. Her daughter, Maria Leilani A. Santellices de la Cruz is a BSC graduate. She is married to Danilo de la Cruz of Asingan, Pangasinan with whom she also has two children.

The couple has established residence in Victoria, Melbourne, Australia where they are both gainfully employed.
