Mayor Jesse Robredo once said jueteng cannot occur anywhere without the consent of local officials.
This month he chided the Naga City PNP Station Commander because of unabated jueteng in Naga City.
He should have looked at the mirror to see who was responsible.

One Robredo gimmick has obviously backfired.
Two months ago he invited jueteng critic Archbishop Oscar Cruz here in Naga City to try to lecture Camarines Sur officials on jueteng. Not impressed by the prelate’s antics, all but two mayors snubbed the dialogue.
But Robredo has to invite Archbishop Cruz again to counsel him on jueteng in Naga City.

Archbishop Cruz must be far-sighted.
He keeps on denouncing jueteng all over the country, relying on testimonies of people he didn’t personally know, much more whether they are telling the truth or concocting lies to serve their own motives.
Yet, Archbishop Cruz has not talked about jueteng in Pangasinan, his home province, where big-time jueteng goes on full blast.
To many Catholics he is what his name implies -- a burden.
