Two more Caramoanons will be ordained priests on June 8, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. at the Parish of St. Michael the Archangel in Caramoan, Camarines Sur by His Excellency Most Rev. Leonardo Z. Legaspi, O.P., D.D., Archbishop of Caceres, bringing to 14 the total number of Caramoan priests.
To be ordained are Rev. Jesus Albeus Alarte, Jr. of barangay Tabgon and Rev. Gary Bergonio Gorimbao of barangay Guijalo.
On June 11 last year the 12th Caramoanon priest, Rev. Fr. Antonio Rex Palaya was also ordained at the Peñafrancia Church in Naga City. He is the son of Antonio Palaya abd Salve Mitas of barangays Tabgon and Solnopan, respectively.
The first Caramoanon priest was Msgr. Juan Albeus Alarcon, Jr., H.P. who was ordained on April 12, 1964. He had served as parish priest of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Naga City and St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Iriga City and is now at St. Anne of the Sunset Parish in San Francisco, California, USA.
The highest ranking Caramoanon priest in the hierarchy of the Catholic Church is Most Rev. Manolo Alarkon de los Santos, D.D., who is presently Bishop of Virac, Catanduanes. He is member of the Permanent Council of the powerful Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines. (CBCP).
Rev. Fr. Jesus Emmanuel G. Obias is Rector of the Pope John Paul II seminary at Sta. Lucia, West Indies in the Carribean while Rev. Fr. Antonio Claro Ruiz is at the Parrochia Di SanT’ilario de Poitiers in Rome, Italy. Rev. Fr. Andres O. Belleza is at St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel, Northern Luzon Command, Camp Servillano Aquino, San Miguel, Tarlac City.
Msgr. Juan R. Celzo is parish priest of Tigaon, Camarines Sur.
Other Caramoanon priests assigned either in Camarines Sur or Naga City are Rev. Fr. Rex Andrew C. Alarcon, Rev. Fr. Glenn Ruiz, Rev. Fr. Elizalde J. Sapian, Rev. Fr. Felipe Culvera III and Rev. Fr. John S. Poblete.
On May 6, 2005, the Caramoan Residents Association in Naga City and its Environs (CRANE) conferred Recognition Awards to all 11 Caramoanon Priests because of their immense contribution to the transformation in the lives of Caramoanons.
