Homecoming eyed in 2007

Many nostalgic Caramoanons now residing in the United States and Canada are coming home by summer 2007 and have asked the CRANE to coordinate their trip to make their stay here truly eventful and memorable.

CRANE Executive Vice President Rhodora Roa-Perez who was in the U.S. in September and October last year disclosed that scores of Caramoanons, many of whom are now permanently residing abroad and have acquired US citizenship intimated to her their desire to visit their hometown. They would, however, prefer that their homecoming would be a sort of a group tour with an itinerary prepared by the CRANE to ensure that each day of their sojourn here would be filled with meaningful activities.

The CRANE has their organized its Balik Caramoan Committee with Dr. Perez as the chairperson and Ms. Laurette Lejarde Ramirez and Ms. Salvacion Cordis Osga, who were also in the US last year, as among committee members.

The Balikbayan Committee will draw up its plans subject to the approval of the Executive Committee which will include details of the entire itinerary of the group from the time of arrival at the NAIA to the time of their return to the US and Canada.

The 2007 sked is expected to trigger a regular homecoming of Caramoanons now based in other parts of the globe and around the country. It is also calculated to bolster the government tourism program for Caramoan.

Meanwhile, Caramoanons in US and Canada have sent in contributions to the CRANE through Dr. Perez, Ms. Osga and Ms. Ramirez in support of its scholarship program which begins this coming school year and its livelihood program also set to start in May 2006.
